Celebration of the Word and Daily Prayer
Prayer is a key aspect of life at St Patrick's and is used both at regular times of day and when needed by individuals or children.
The school has an active prayer life and opporutnities are mapped out in the Annual Plan of Provision. For example, during October, the month of the Holy Rosary, and during the Month of May, we invite children to gather on the playgrounds at breaktime to pray the Rosary. During Lent and Advent prayers are led by teachers and pupils in school.
Morning Offering:
O my God you love me,
You're with me night and day.
I want to love you always, in all I do and say.
I’ll try to please you father, bless me through the day.
Amen.
Prayer Before Meals:
Bless us O God as we sit together,
Bless the food we eat today,
Bless the hands that make the food,
Bless us O God.
Amen.
Be present at our table, Lord,
Be here and everywhere adored,
Our children bless and grant that we;
may feast in paradise with thee.
Amen
Closing Prayer:
God our Father I come to say,
Thank you for your love today,
Thank you for my family
And all the friends you give to me,
Guard me in the dark of night,
And in the morning send your light.
Amen.
Celebration of the Word is a special time when the Word of God is shared and reflected upon. This is often a form of Pupil led worship within the classrooms.
We gather every week to Celebrate the Word: Key Stage 2 do this on Monday and Key Stage 1 on Friday. A special Mission is given to the children so they can act out the message from the Gospel. This is reflected on at KS2 Sangam/celebration assembly, where we celebrate the achievements of our pupils. Families are invited to these celebrations.
Significant feast days are celebrated throughout the Liturgical year with 'Class Celebrations' or Whole School gtaherings.
Holy Mass is celebrated in school to mark the beginning and end of the school year, during Lent and Advent and on the Feast of St Patrick in March.
Families are encouraged to worship together at home. We send home the Wednesday Word each week, and also share the Parent Portal for the Ten Ten Worship.
