Living Our Mission: January Highlights
We began 2026 with a renewed energy to live out our mission in an understanding that everything we do is with Christ in our Hearts and Minds.
Feast of the Epiphany
This January, our school embraced the themes of Peace and Christian Unity, beginning with a joyful celebration of the Epiphany of the Lord. Our Year 5 pupils led a beautiful Celebration of the Word, reminding us of the gifts we can offer to Jesus in our daily lives. Mission Control was alive with creativity as children reflected on the question: What gifts can I bring?

Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh - Matthew 2:11
Bearing Witness to Jesus
We face challenges with resilience and faith! In Celebration of the Word, we listened to the story of Jesus' Baptism and John the Baptism bearing witness. We used our hands to create the wings of the dove that identified Jesus; we wrote our names on pebbles to show we were willing to follow His path; and we played a fun game called 'Where's Jesus?' We wrote our name on the chalkboard cross to show we had 'found Jesus.'
Finding Jesus
Martin Luther King Day
We treat others with kindness and respect. Learning from the example of Martin Luther King, KS1 took a moment out of their lunchtime play to write and draw about their 'perfect world.' Thankyou to Sister Stella Maris who helped us with this special activity.

Mini Vinnie Mission - We help others, using patience and love to serve those around us.
Our Mini Vinnies met to think about the new term and the opportunities for service. We began to think about how to fundraise for a special celebration in the parish later this year. Sister Kosi is celebrating 25 years in service as a Nun, and will be having a party at St Patrick's school!

Still Point Prayers - Every Wednesday
Our Bright Lights introduced The Still Point, a new prayer time on Wednesdays, helping us pause and find peace in the middle of busy weeks. We open Mission Control for a time of quiet prayer.
"I'm praying for my Mummy. I want her to get better sleep."
"I'm thinking about my brother because he is doing his GCSEs."
"I thanked God for blessing me with my lovely Mum"

Christian Unity Week - We are kind and respectful to everyone
As part of Christian Unity Week, children were invited to take part in an art competition, showing what peace and community mean to them. We were amazed by the range of beautiful artwork produced!
Year 1 also showed how they wanted to champion peace in the world, when they created positive postcards and delivered them to a local care home. The residents were very pleased to meet some of the children, and enjoyed the biscuits they delivered too!

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” — Matthew 5:9
January has been a month of light, peace, and unity. Through prayer, creativity, and service, we have deepened our understanding of faith and our call to live it joyfully. Although the Jubilee year has ended, we continue our journey: may we keep the door open—to peace, to unity, and to the light of Christ shining in every heart.
I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” — John 10:10
